Agonda Beach Bumps – A Beautiful Beach Resort in South Goa

(Last Updated On: January 13, 2019)

The state of Goa in India is known for its gorgeous coastline and one of the major draws to Goa are its beaches. There are many beautiful beaches in Goa which make for an ideal haven for someone looking for a relaxed and laid back vacation. One of the best ways to make the most of your relaxed trip is to stay in one of the beach resorts or even better beach huts which are located right on the shores of the beach.

During our visit to Gokarna in Karnataka, we stayed in one such beach hut and it was an amazing experience waking up to the singing of birds and the sound of waves crashing at the shore. We were looking for a similar experience on our visit to Goa and hence we booked Agonda Beach Bumps on Agonda Beach in South Goa.

North Goa which consists of the capital city Panaji and Velha Goa or Old Goa has some of the best places to visit in Goa and hence you will find most of the tourists and travelers around the beaches in North Goa. We were looking for a more relaxed stay minus the bustling crowd and Agonda Beach in South Goa was a perfect choice.

Our Goa trip was a road trip from Mumbai to Goa. We took a break and stayed a night in Belgaum on the way to Goa. Next morning early we started to Velha Goa and Panjim. We explored Fontainhas, Reis Magos Fort, enjoyed the sunset at Betalbatim Beach and reached our destination Agonda Beach at dusk.

The directions we were following on the Google Map brought us to a narrow bridge which was so crammed that barely a two-wheeler could pass. You will get to this location if you head to Agonda Beach from Cabo De Rama Fort. When crossing with bridge seemed impossible we called the host. Our host reached the spot we were waiting in just about 5 minutes and led us to the resort through an alternative route for suitable for the car. After driving through the countryside for about 10 minutes we drove into the Agonda village which was lined with houses beautifully illuminated for Christmas.

The Agonda Beach

Agonda Beach is a famous beach in South Goa with much fewer tourists. Hawkers are not allowed on the beach. The beach not for the party animals is much preferred if you are looking for a relaxed experience.

The Agonda Beach is lined with many beach resorts most of which have sea facing huts and sun lounges provided during the day. At dusk, the sun lounges are replaced by the dinner tables and chairs for dinner at the beach.

It is located between lesser-known Cola beach and the touristic Palolem Beach. Agonda Beach is one of the four beaches designated as turtle nesting sites.

Agonda Beach Bumps

Agonda Beach Bumps is one of the best beach bumps we can recommend if you are looking to stay in South Goa on your laid back trip. The resort has 4 sea-facing and 3 non-sea facing huts and a restaurant on the beach with free WiFi throughout the property.

Rooms

The rooms of the Agonda Beach Bumps are spacious and clean. Each room is equipped with AC, ceiling fan, dressing mirror, small cupboard, and side tables.

The bathrooms were clean and spacious too equipped with water geyser which ensured 24 hours hot water.

Agonda Beach Bumps Restaurant

We personally liked the food served by the restaurant in Agonda Beach Bumps resort. For dinner, the tables and chairs were arranged by the beach with candlelight. We would sit by the beach and place the order.

The service was quick. The restaurant serves Indian and Chinese cuisine, Goan specialties, mocktails, and cocktails.

One evening they had displayed some fresh seafood catch for dinner and we devoured on some delicious fish rava fry and fish masala fry.

Morning Breakfast at Agonda Beach Bumps

The breakfast is not included in the room price. The breakfast starts at around 7 AM. The menu consists of English breakfast like bread toast, bread omelet, and sandwiches. We used to skip the breakfast here and head to a restaurant on the highway.

As soon as you exit the Agonda Beach Road and head towards North Goa you will find the restaurant – ‘Hotel Karmalghat Hills’ on the left. They prepared Indian dishes for breakfast like dosa, idli, and puri, paratha which we devoured oh happily.

Agonda Beach Bumps Parking

There is a small parking space for Agonda Beach Bumps Resort right across the street from the resort entrance. The parking space was enough to park around 5 to 6 cars.

Shopping at Agonda Beach

The street parallel to the Agonda Beach stretch is lined with shops on either side selling souvenirs, different kind of spices, clothing, jewelry accessories, massage parlors, other beach resorts and a couple of restaurants.

Tours from Agonda Beach

The resort arranges for booking the boat tours to Butterfly Beach and Honeymoon Beach where you can do Dolphin spotting and explore the hidden beaches of Butterfly and Honeymoon. The prices are 2500 INR per boat (2018). This works out only if you have a group of 6-8 people where the price per boat could be shared. The resort manager tried hard to find a group to share with us, and as it was only two of us it was very pricey and so we had to drop it.

Nearby Attractions to Agonda Beach

There are quite a few attractions in and around Agonda Beach. There is a beautiful St. Anne Church near Agonda Beach. Palolem Beach which is more touristic than the Agonda Beach with more shopping opportunities and some nice restaurants is about 15 min drive from Agonda Beach. Chapoli Dam located in a picturesque setting amidst lush surroundings is about 20 minutes drive from Agonda Beach. Canacona Island or the Monkey Island can be reached either by walk at low tide or by a ferry from Palolem Beach.

Cabo De Rama Fort

Cabo De Rama Fort is an old fort about 30 minutes drive from Agonda Beach. The ramparts of the fort offer breathtaking views of the sea.
